Friends from across Michigan will gather at Quaker Park in Battle Creek for worship and a potluck picnic beginning at 11 a.m., Sunday, August 4, 2019. Please bring a dish and your table service. Also bring a chair or a blanket sit on. Quaker Park is at the northwest corner of Fremont and Groveland Street in Battle Creek. All are welcome.
This annual gathering, sponsored by Green Pastures Quarterly Meeting, memorializes Aug. 6, 1945, when the United States dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, and ushered in the nuclear age. The gathering also affords an opportunity to celebrate the life of Sojourner Truth, who settled in Battle Creek prior to the Civil War.
